During the summer of 2020, Drum Corps International will transform the DCI Performers Showcase presented by System Blue into a digital format, giving performers of all ages and from any location around the world the opportunity to compete in the popular individual and ensemble competition.

Hosted as part of DCI World Championships since 1974, this summer’s event will be modified to provide an alternative performance opportunity in consideration of COVID-19 restrictions.

“Bringing things online will give us an incredible opportunity to open this event to all ages and to individuals and ensembles who may not be active in or eligible to participate in a traditional DCI corps or SoundSport team,” said event organizer Christina Mavroudis. “Whether you’re in high school or college or part of an all-age or international music organization, the doors are wide open to get involved.”

New classifications

With no restrictions on eligibility, entries will be divided into two separate competitive categories.

Under 22
This class is for the traditional Performers Showcase performer who is an active member in a DCI corps, SoundSport team, DrumLine Battle program, or an accredited educational/performing arts program (e.g. college, high school, music conservatory). Participants must adhere to the DCI age restriction of 21 years of age or under (unless your 22nd birthday falls on or after June 1.)

Over 22
This class has no maximum age restrictions and allows performers over the age of 22 to participate. Examples of participants in this class would be active members of a Drum Corps Associates corps, a WGI Sport of the Arts independent ensemble, as well as international associations such as Drum Corps Europe, Drum Corps UK, Drum Corps Asia, Indonesian Drum Corps Association, Drum Corps Japan, Japan Marching Band Association, the Field Band Federation, the World Association of Marching Show Bands and others.

Key dates

Registration will start June 18 and be open until July 24. After signing up, videos can be submitted at any time during that five-week period.

The judging period will take place between July 25 and August 5.

A selection of elite performers for each category will be featured during a live webcast on FloMarching.com on August 8.

Registration and fees

Entry fees are $35 for individuals and $70 for ensembles.

Powered by e-Adjudicate, each entry will receive educational commentary and a rating from a DCI adjudicator as well as a limited-edition 2020 DCI Performers Showcase patch. Winning entries in each solo category will receive a champion medal.
